Ice Out Update

I was up in the Algonquin region yesterday and I’m sad to report that the lakes around where I was were solid ice still.  Its still going to be quite awhile until we are able to dip, dip, and swing!

What are you doing to keep from going stir crazy?

Spring is Here…or so the Calendar Says

According to the calendar and the almanac spring has arrived.  According to the weather outside…it hasn’t.  The Friends of Algonquin Park shared a picture on their Facebook page that showed last years ice conditions and this years.  Considering the first day of spring registered +20 degrees last year…we are a long way off!  It looks like we are going to have a very long ice out actually more like the typical ice out which is around April 23rd.

I would love to see your predictions.  All I know is that it’s going to be a long time until my paddle hits the water….and that makes me quite sad :(.  It’s coming though folks!  To follow ice out conditions you can go to a couple of websites:

Also, just so you know…Explorers Edge, the Regional Tourism Office of Muskoka, Haliburton, Almaguin Highlands, Algonquin Park, Parry Sound, and Loring-Restoule, is having an awesome promo.  It’s called the Fuel and Fun promo and if you participate you could receive 1 of 500 $50 gas cards and $50 travel vouchers to participating Experience Providers.  Check out the website for more details: http://explorersedge.ca/fuelandfun/

~Enjoy your Trip
